About Wavelength Consultancy

Wavelength Consultancy was set up with the key values of clear communication, positive outcomes and forward-thinking approaches, all geared up to work alongside organisations with high standards of service to their clients and customers. With a combined 60 years’ experience working for and with both blue chip and independent companies across the UK, plus some less-conventional international experience, we offer broad business skills but focus on two distinct areas of expertise.

Graham Keating leads on Warehouse Automation projects, assisting companies in the vital process of identifying their needs and specifying the required outcomes with their chosen automation supplier. As a former FMCG business director, he brings the ability to work at all levels within the organisation so that all your stakeholders are informed and involved. His proven coaching skills will assist in developing project management abilities within the organisation as the project develops.

Dianne Keating leads on the vital skillsets of editing and proofreading of business documentation. Organisations which recognise the value of clear and compelling messages, to customers and employees alike, will be more likely to succeed in competitive marketplaces. Commended for over 30 years of ‘exceptional service to human resources and people development’ by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, Dianne brings a wealth of experience in developing positive HR procedures that have added value to blue chip and independent businesses alike.

Frequently Asked Questions

It all rests on clarity of information and data. We need to be clear about how your business operates now, how you expect it to develop and what drives your decision to approach automation as a solution. A plain-English Operational description is the vital first step to building a clear Functional Design Specification upon which the automation solution is built. There are a number of steps along the Get-to-Contract journey and it’s an iterative process to re-visit them as the project develops to ensure that the final solution meets all of your expectations.

As an experienced engineer and senior manager, Graham Keating will work with your team to help formulate the answers to each stage of the Get-to-Contract journey. Your own key people will be busy with their day-to-day responsibilities so Wavelength Consultancy’s input will help drive the process whilst clearly communicating progress and ensuring that ownership of the project remains firmly with you.

We are happy to assist in the process of shortlisting and selecting potential suppliers once the initial Operational Description has been written. We have worked on a significant project scoping exercise with Kettering-based Logistex Ltd but remain independent so are happy to work with your chosen supplier.

We will work with you to ensure that all key stakeholders are involved – from your directors to the people driving the fork-trucks. Successful automation projects have to be owned by the people who will use them so Graham Keating’s skill at communicating at all levels of an organisation will help capture knowledge and develop confidence that the project will meet everyone’s needs. Having personally worked through a major Get-to-Contract journey, he will help your team navigate through what, at first sight, may seem a daunting task. He can help identify key talent within your team and assist them in developing their skills as the project progresses

At Wavelength Consultancy, we firmly believe that the installation, commissioning and testing phases of any automation project need to be managed and owned by the people who will use it. We are happy to assist as required and will help to identify and develop your key team members who will manage these final phases but we don’t offer a full-time installation project-management service.

The full range of documentation across an organisation, edited or developed as a confidential service including brochures and manuals; company handbooks; individual policies and procedures; announcements and briefings; website text; newsletters.

Wavelength Consultancy is Somerset-based, serving clients across the country. One of our key values is to get to know and fully understand the needs and ethos of the client. This can be established through a site visit or meeting. Thereafter, much of the work can be successfully completed remotely with regular updates and reviews. Regardless of your location, you can benefit from editing/ HR services to suit your timescale and budget.

In an increasingly competitive market, standards right across the organisation are key. The product or service may be good but how much confidence do you have in a supplier if, for example, their sales brochure is full of errors?

As well as the specialist service of editing and development of HR documentation, editing services extend across all functions. Having worked for and with a diverse range of companies, Dianne Keating’s versatile, inquisitive and resourceful approach allows her to use her communication skills to drill down into the style and ethos of the organisation. Whatever the topic, she applies attention to detail in her writing skills, ensuring consistent and well-presented documentation. For specialist areas, Dianne Keating will work closely with appointed personnel. Too specialist an area or no internal specialist available? Wavelength Consultancy will advise on another route.

As with all documentation, company handbooks tend to grow with the business. Policies and procedures may have been brought in to meet legislation; changes in management may have introduced new ideas; new documents may have been added with changes in HR provision. The potential result? A disjointed handbook, written with a lack of consistency and clarity, delivering the bare minimum when some really positive messages could be conveyed. Worst of all, it’s unlikely to bear any resemblance to the house-style across the rest of the organisation.

Wavelength Consultancy recognises that many organisations have their own operational HR provision; others may use an agency. With 30 years of HR expertise, Dianne Keating can complement the organisation’s HR service, working with them to develop a positive, future-looking approach, working alongside an agency whose focus may be employment law or to dedicate time and resources to review current documentation and develop it to reflect house-style.

Positive HR is what sets outstanding employers apart from the average; they spend some time and money on ways to really look after their employees. Often, it’s the little things that will have a big impact, turning the organisation into a popular employer. Reap the rewards with easier recruitment and improved staff retention – happy employees stay with you!
